What we got up to in August

August is traditionally when the Alex closes so that Chris and Steve can progress projects around the building which they cannot do with other people about. The list of projects is always longer than the month but Steve has managed to transform parts of the garden as well as tackling the cellar contents. Many thanks to Steve Baker for helping erect the verandah onto the front of the pavilion. Alex studio, holder photographer John Thompson, is helping with erecting a bigger shed for storage. With five artists now holding studio spaces at the Alex the hope is to create space for a sixth before the end of the year. Meanwhile here are some of the untidy shots of progress. Chris’s project was more on the admin side (+ some work on her studio and storage spaces). More about that later.

Steve has managed to hide a shed under the willow tree – great camouflage. Hatty’s Column by Tom Jennings’ woodcarving group and Jenny Balls hanging metal sculpture (made in Love Rugby Festival) in foreground.
