Northants and Rutland Open Studios with some added Rugby artists!

We have been plotting and planning since last year to be part of NROS – even though we are not technically in Northants or Rutland. Delighted to say the map has been tweaked and six artists will be putting on a bit of a show for NROS here during September. Four of us in our studios spaces (Belinda Edwards, ceramicist; Chris Pegler, weaver, spinner and dyer; John Thompson photographer; and Steve Davies (printmaker). Plus, two artists from Northants revist us and put on an exhibition in the Cafe and Bar galleries. Delighted to welcome back Pete Martin with a larger range of impressive carved sculptures, and Irene Belcher with some smaller textile works this time – on the theme of ‘The Queen’s Handbags’ celebrating the connection of Northants leatherworking with the late Queen.

If that was not enough we are also displaying work here as part of Heritage Open Days throughout September in the Garden Room at the Alex. One of our favourite local artists Eric Gaskell is showing an exhibition of art inspired by research into his ancestry – Family Lines Revisted II.
Several pieces has not been exhibited outside his home so this will be full of surprises. Perhaps make a date to visit on 20th September (afternoon) to catch his talk.

So re-opening in September with a full on programme of amazing art. (We also are planning another exhibition in MALA beds during Sept/Oct so watch out for that too.)
