Delighted to be part of Rugby Yarnbomb

Like 30+ other locations in town we have had a knitted/crocheted/sewn and downright bonkers Alice in Wonderland/Through the looking glass display in our front window since 12 July. Its attracting plenty of attention – whether closed or open – and we have been delighted to show if off. Thank you to Chris Pegler, Gemma Whitford, Steve Davies, Tamsen Flack and Vikki Skinner (special thanks to Vikki for styling it and Gemma for window art). Its a collective Rugby Artists and Makers (and my friend Fran from Bridgend!) who pulled this together and we hope to be part of future yarn bomb efforts. Yes, there will be more.

Meanwhile to see more of the pieces in this Alice Yarnbomb collect a trail map (free) from Wild+Free in Bank Street and explore the town. Its an ideal school holiday activity but also great for people who are interested in fibre crafts. Some of the work is astonishing. You only glimpse a bit of it in this BBC reel. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1372089873860730 (or click image to play).

The idea originated in Wild+Free Rugby and while Ceri was the one who with the vision, who put in immense work, knitting, negotiating and community building , the stories and posters and such are all from husband Charles. You can get a glimpse of these here. Thank you to Ceri and Charles and all the many other Rugby Yarnbombers who have given the town something to smile about. You have done Rugby proud and mobilised so many to do more. Fabulous.

PS. The chair that some of you will have seen in RAGM in February is part of the tea party ensemble viewable in Boots in Rugby Central to the 9th. As is the scary Red Queen.
